Winter Time Remedy for Chapped
& Red Hands
I saved 6oz baby food jars from son (they were FREE otherwise I made my own baby food) and I pour the mixture in them. This way I don't have to worry about contamination and each batch stays fresh. I store the unused portions in the fridge if I happen to run out of room I place them in the closet in my bedroom which remains cool 9 months out the year.
This make so much & is so rich you
only need a small amount- you can make
some for yourself and
give some for gifts!
I use my Cricut die cutting machine to cut adorable tags and labels then I use adhesives to affix labels when able or tie on tags with pretty ribbon.
- 1/2 cup Oil blend {extra virgin Olive Oil infused w/plaintain, mixed w/ Birch Hill Happenings Massage Oil Blend: This is a blend of Sweet Almond Oil, Fractionated Coconut oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Sunflower Oil, Jojoba oil and other skin nourishing oils.}
- 1/4 cup beeswax,
- 1/2 Cup each: extra virgin coconut oil butter, Shea Butter & Cocoa Butter
- 3 Vitamin E oil capsules
- Optional: Essential Oils of choice (I use up to 50 drops EO, a combo of Lavender, Helichrysim, Chamomile, and patchouli-all known for healing, moisturing, and soothing properties- plus this smells AMAZING!!)
- Optional: 1/4-1/2 C vegetabale Glycerin this is only a natural perservative, I don't feel it necessary since the evco will perserve it and there is no food or water involved, but if you are giving this as a gift and it is not used within 6 months you might want to consider adding glycerin)
- Combine ingredients in a larger glass UP TO ESSENTIAL OILS (about a pint size) jar or jars. I reuse glass jar from pickles, sauce or other foods.
- Fill a medium saucepan with a couple inches of water and place over medium heat.
- Put a lid on the jar(s) loosely and place in the pan with the water.
- As the water heats, the ingredients in the jar(s) will start to melt. Shake or stir occasionally to incorporate.
- When all ingredients are completely melted, use an immersion blender or pour into a larger bowl and whip with hand held mixer until creamy, this thick and rich lotion will have a whipped & creamy texture when completely cooled.
- Once completely cooled add essential oils of choice and whip again to combine.
- Pour into whatever jar or tin you will use for storage. Small wide mouth mason jars (8 ounce) are great for this if you don't have old baby food jars. It will not pump well in a lotion pump!
- Use as you would regular lotion. This has a longer shelf life than some homemade lotion recipes since all ingredients are already shelf stable and not water is added. Use within 6 months for best moisturizing benefits.
This makes about 16 ounces of healing deep Penetrating moistuiring, nourishing, & creamy-whipped Super Winter lotion.
Add a tag with label, ingredients, instructions and date you made the mixture. Tie on with pretty ribbon and give as gift to the special people in your life!
